Plus ca change...

Parti Québécois leadership candidate Pierre Karl Péladeau is not excluding the possibility of Quebec declaring independence based on an election result that would put the party in power.

Quebec Court of Appeal ruled French Language Charter not enough to force companies to adopt French names

The Quebec Court of Appeal has ruled the French Language Charter does not allow the province's language watchdog to force companies such as Best Buy, Old Navy and Curves to add a French component to their name. Several multinationals originally took the province to court after they were told by the language watchdog to change their names or risk running afoul of the rules governing the language of business in the province.

It appears to be quite insidious to display the English language in Quebec, a first world nation/state inside Canada... a "free" society with a very long and bitter memory towards "les maudits Anglais"! I wonder when the Quebec government will decide to ban "English" names being used by its "Quebecois citizens? I can see it now; all persons with the first or last name of "John" would have to change their name to "Jean"

All this in the name of "protecting" the French language in Quebec... c'est incroyable!   HOY May 01, 2015
